
Fr. Michael Ghaly was born and raised in Shoubra, Cairo, where he attended Archangel Michael and St. Shenouda Church. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Systems and Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University, and later received a scholarship to pursue his PhD studies at Johns Hopkins University.
Fr. Michael has been blessed to serve the Church in many capacities, both in Egypt and in the United States. He served in various ministries spanning all ages, from the Angels class to the College youth. At St. Mary Church in Maryland, his service extended to leadership roles as a board member, assistant general coordinator for Sunday School, and coordinator of the Deacons Ministry.
By the grace of God, Fr. Michael was ordained to the priesthood of St. Mary and St. Joseph Coptic Orthodox Church in Columbus by His Grace Bishop Saraphim, Bishop of Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, along with His Grace Bishop Karas, Bishop of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and West Virginia, on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
He continues to serve the congregation with joy alongside Fr. Makarios West, focusing on spiritual growth, teaching, and pastoral care. He has a deep love for hymnology, the Coptic language, and Church history
Fr. Michael enjoys traveling and exploring new places, playing and watching soccer, and spending time with family and friends.
Fr. Michael is married to Christine, and they are blessed with two children, Mark and Natalie.
